What did you do from the start and the end of your project?
In the MUN project we were told to do much stuff in order to shine in our conference on 11/5/10. To begin, every individual had the choice to pick any country that you would interest in. Once everyone had a country we were gathered people that were in the same country as you and do research on it. When we finished researching our country I decided to choose the third committee which basically talked about the conflict in the Gaza Strip and the Tibetan Autonomy. Guess what? We had to do more research on this one too. When we all had all the appropriate information we did a resolution that involved our country with the committee we chose. The both resolutions that I completed were easy because I had all the information that made it easier for me to finish and get a good grade. We also gathered every committee to talk about what they found out while researching and also we practiced our public speaking and that is really helpful. Another thing that we all had to do to prepare ourselves for the conference was to write a General and Substantive Debate speeches.
What did you learn? (Skills and content)
There were a lot of things that I learned during this project. I learned how to write a resolution, which for me was one of the most complicated stuff this project included. In my life I’ve written a resolution. I believe that I improved in my writing skills because when I first came to HTH I didn’t know how to write an essay, now I do and I even know how to write resolutions and many other things. Another thing that I improved on was researching. I have to say that I still need to improve in my public speaking skills because I still feel nervous when I talk in front of people.
What did you enjoyed the most?
What I enjoyed the most was researching and learning new things about my country and my committee. I liked reading and writing down interesting facts. I also liked working in groups because we can compare and share ideas and many other things, but the thing I don’t like when it comes to working in a group is that people in your group don’t do their work on time or they don’t want to participate.
What advice would you give net year’s freshmen about this project to succeed?
In order to succeed this project I would advice all next year’s freshmen to do all their work and finish everything on time. It will also be helpful if you do a lot of research in your country. Participating with your team will facilitating your understandings about your country and others people’s country and discuss everyone’s ideas, thoughts, struggles, etc… Most importantly you will have to participate and talk in the MUN conference to show everything u learned during all the weeks of researching and getting prepared.
