Humanities
For the First semester of Humanities I had many accomplishments. To begin, I finished most of the projects and assignments that was given to me and I feel very proud of that. To go more in debt, the project that I’ve done this semester that enjoyed the most and feel proud of was the Perspective Project, the last project in Humanities class. I felt that this project, besides being the most enjoyable, required a lot of work and responsibility. For this project we were given the option to choose any topic about the problems in society. The topic that I decided to learn about was how to prevent Teenage Pregnancy. This topic struck me the most because I felt eager to learn more than what I know about teenage Pregnancy. I know this sound like the easiest topic, but I guarantee that there is a lot more to learn from. I’m telling this because after I made my research log and read it afterwards I was shocked by the information that I obtained. I also learned a lot while writing the essay. I learned how to make citations and give credit to the author every time we get information of a website. Meanwhile doing this project I had a lot of fun because when I was finished with my essay, the next task was to come up with your own political cartoon. Doing the political cartoon was one of the best parts of the assignment. When the project was done we had to present it for exhibition night. I thought I was going to do awful because I was nervous, but once everyone practiced in class with our classmates I felt more secure and I believe that I did a great job in exhibition. To tell you guys how proud was I for the project; I slept with a big smile in my face. Finally this assignment proved me that I’ve been improving a lot during the first semester of school.
I believe that writing all the essays that we did in my first semester of high school really helped me to improve my writing skills. Honestly I feel that I suck at writing because I never had enough practice. At my middle school, we wrote essays only twice a year. In high tech high we wrote approximately 10 essays. I haven’t only grown academically but personally too. In high-tech I learned how to get out of my own bubble. What I mean by that is that at first I was a shy girl that always felt crapping in her pants every time I speak in public. Since this school is small I talk to a lot of people and that makes me feel really good. I believe that I have a lot more to accomplish besides talking to people.
Other things that I have to achieve for the second and final semester of high tech high are many. To start off I want to get a high GPA, like everyone does. At least I want to get straight A’s that is my goal for every semester, year as a high school student. I also want to know more people not only from high tech high but also International and Media.
Math/Physics
In the first semester of math/physics I was able to accomplished many things. The project that I liked the most was “The Perfect Classroom.” I have to say that I enjoyed this project better that the U.S energy trends because usually I like to work in groups. My partners of the Perfect Classroom were fun to work with, even though we had some difficulties in the beginning. At the end of this assignment my group and I thought that we did better that we expected. Our project was one of the finalists and it was put on the board. I have to say that I voted for a different design because I thought that the other group’s design was better than us and I really liked it.
This project was the funniest in Math and Physics class. At the end of this project we had to present it to the whole group, which include Jane’s and Courtney’s classroom.
I improved with math thanks to Aleks. I believe that sometimes Aleks is not that helpful. Mostly all my classmates complain that Aleks is not helping them learning math, personally Aleks does help me because I actually click the explain button. In most cases I
see my other classmates asking for help to the teachers when they haven’t even bother to click the “Explain” button. Honestly I don’t know how I have grown personally in the Jane’s class. I think that my goal for next semester of Math/ Physics is to know how I have grown personally in her class.
The goals that I have for the next semester are to pass my entire math test, but one of the biggest goals is to focus while working and not to fool around. I also want to better with my judo math because this semester I was one belt behind. To finish this I would like to get good grades in Jane’s class also, just like in any other class.
